Why beginners lose trades

Most early losses come from process, not from missing a secret indicator. Here is what to watch first.

The problem is usually the process

Beginners often look for a better indicator after a losing week. The more common issue is no written plan: no risk per trade, no invalidation, and no reason to stay out.

Five habits that drain accounts

  • Risking too much on one idea because it “looks certain”.
  • Moving a stop further away after the market goes against you.
  • Trading every session instead of waiting for your setup.
  • Copying someone else’s trade without knowing the invalidation.
  • Reviewing only winners and ignoring the journal of losers.

What to do instead

Write one sentence before you enter: why this trade, where it is wrong, and how much you can lose. If you cannot write those three points, skip the trade.
